The Landmark, formerly known as "The Franklin House" has a history unlike any family history. It was born sometime in 1781 as a log cabin home. In it's early childhood it was brought up as a kitchen and bar for glassworkers in the employ of Solomon Stanger. The building next developed into a hostelry (probably because diners were reluctant to leave), after which the establishment grew in both stature and reputation into what it is today.
